Liberty men’s basketball continues to be included in ESPN’s Joe Lunardi early Bracketology as he thinks the Flames will three-peat as ASUN champs in 2020-21.

Lunardi updated his early March Madness bracket for 2021 this week and he continues to have Liberty in as a 16-seed, but this week he has a new and intriguing potential first round matchup predicted for the Flames.

Liberty remains in a play-in game as one of the lowest rated 16-seeds and therefore heading to Dayton for the First Four where he has Liberty playing Norfolk State out of the MEAC. The winner would advance to play Virginia in Raleigh.

Liberty head coach Ritchie McKay spent 6 seasons on staff at Virginia under Cavaliers’ head coach Tony Bennett and remains very close to Bennett and the UVA program.

The Flames finished the 2019-20 season at 30-4 overall and 13-3 in conference play, winning a share of the ASUN regular season title and ASUN Tournament championship for a second consecutive season.
