Liberty is picked as the 81st best team in the country out of 136 FBS teams, according to Phil Steele’s Power Poll. This ranking is down from last year’s preseason ranking of No. 52.

Virginia Tech is the highest ranked team from Virginia in the Power Poll, checking in at No. 41. Virginia is the second highest ranked team in the Commonwealth, checking in at No. 61, followed by No. 67 James Madison, Liberty, and No. 85 Old Dominion. Under third-year head coach Jamey Chadwell, the Flames are picked to win the 12-member CUSA.
