The Liberty Flames (6-4) open as early road underdogs for next weekend’s in-state meeting with the Virginia Cavaliers (7-3, 5-2). Per VegasInsider, the Flames are 18.5-point underdogs.

Last season in Charlottesville, the Cavaliers defeated Liberty, 45-24, in the first ever meeting on the gridiron between the two programs. Virginia quarterback Bryce Perkins threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more as the Flames’ defense were unable to slow down the dual-threat athlete.

Both teams are coming off a bye week as Liberty enters the game needing just one more win to become bowl eligible for the first time in school history. The Cavaliers are currently leading the ACC’s Coastal Division with a 5-2 league mark ahead of their showdown next week against Virginia Tech. The Hokies are just behind the Cavaliers at 4-2 in ACC play.

Kickoff between Liberty and Virginia is set for Saturday, Nov. 23 at 12 noon Eastern. The game will be televised on ACC regional networks.
