This past weekend, as part of Liberty football’s spring game, was one of the top recruiting weekends on the Flames’ coaching staff’s calendar for the year. Not only did Liberty welcome over 200 high school recruits to campus, there were also several of the top prospects on the Flames’ 2023 radar that came to Lynchburg this past week. Here’s a brief bio on some of them.

WR Marcell Baylor

Baylor is a 6’3″, 195 pound wide receiver from Radford, Virginia where he attends Radford High School. He is a three-star rated prospect according to 247 Sports, who also ranks him as one of the top prospects in Virginia for the class of 2023. Baylor has offers from Liberty, Appalachian State, JMU, Temple, and UConn.

LB Jayden Bethea

Bethea is a 6’0″, 220 pound linebacker from Dacula, Georgia where he attends Dacula High School. He is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports and has already picked up offers from Liberty, Buffalo, Coastal Carolina, Duke, East Carolina, Kansas, Maryland, Ole Miss, UAB, and UCF.

OL Tajh Boyd

Boyd is a 6’5″, 320 pound offensive tackle from Chesapeake, Virginia and Oscar Smith High School. He is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals and his offer list includes Liberty, Maryland, and Pitt.

OL Michael Crounse

Crounse is a three-star prospect from Hyattsville, Maryland and DeMatha Catholic High School. The 6’5″, 310 pound offensive lineman has a number of offers including from Liberty, Buffalo, Cincinnati, UConn, Iowa State, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan State, Pitt, and West Virginia.

WR Tory Johnson, Jr.

Johnson is a 6’4″, 200 pound receiver from Chesapeake, Virginia and Oscar Smith High School. 247Sports rates him as a three-star prospect, and he has picked up offers from Liberty, Buffalo, Duke, Maryland, Pitt, Virginia, and West Virginia.

DB Jonathan Pennix

Pennix is a 6’0″, 170 pound defensive back from Appomattox, Virginia where he attends Appomattox County High School. He is rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports and has already picked up offers from Appalachian State, Boston College, Buffalo, JMU, Louisville, Pitt, Virginia, and West Virginia.

QB Braylen Ragland

Ragland is a three-star quarterback from Memphis, Tennessee where he attends White State High School. The 6’0″, 185 pound athlete has picked up offers from Liberty, Auburn, Buffalo, Georgia Southern, Memphis, Tennessee, and Tulane.

DT Ayobami Tifase

Tifase is a 6’5″, 300 pound defensive tackle from Myrtle Beach where he attends the Collegiate Academy. He currently has offers from Liberty, Arkansas, Central Michigan, Coastal Carolina, Missouri, Western Kentucky, and UConn.
