Liberty football has received 17 verbal commitments so far for the class of 2021. At this juncture, the 2021 class is shaping up to once again be one of the highest rated classes in school history.

Each of the past two seasons, under head coach Hugh Freeze, Liberty’s recruiting classes have been the best in school history and the 2021 class is set up to continue to raise that bar.

Liberty’s class is currently placed at No. 90 across the country at 247Sports, which is right on target with the the best class in school history as the Flames’ 2020 class finished at 89.

3-star quarterback Nate Hampton is currently the jewel of the class. The 6’6″, 230 pound athlete hails from Mocksville, North Carolina where he attends Davie County High School. He committed to Liberty in June over 20+ offers. 247Sports ranks him as the 54th best QB in the class nationally.

Wide receiver Bobby Ezzard, according to 247Sports, is tied with Hampton as the highest rated commit in Liberty’s 2021 class. The 6’1″, 178 pound receiver from North Gwinnett High School and Suwanee, Goergia had offers from Appalachian State, Kentucky, Maryland, and Akron.

Perhaps the biggest position of need for the Flames in this recruiting cycle is at linebacker. So far, Liberty has picked up commitments from two linebackers in Ahmad Walker and CJ Tillman.

Of these 17 Liberty commitments, nine of them are offensive players, while the other eight are on the defensive side. According to 247Sports, Liberty has eight three-star players and seven two-star guys.

Additionally, of the 17 Liberty football commitments in this class, the 247Sports Composite says that four of them arrive in the top 100 nationally at their position.
