On Thursday, Liberty officially announced its 2026 football coaching staff. The Flames made the hiring of Cory Peoples official while also officially announcing the promotions of Teddy Gallagher to linebackers coach and Malcolm Dixon to quarterbacks coach.

Dixon came to Liberty when Coach Chadwell was named Liberty’s head do it all coach in December 20022. He served as the program’s Senior Offensive Quality Control staff member during the 2023-24 seasons before being elevated to Assistant Quarterbacks Coach in 2025. He is elevated to QB Coach after Willy Korn’s retirement following the conclusion of the 2025 season. Dixon spent three years with Chadwell at Coastal Carolina as tight ends coach and wide receivers coach. He also spent a season at North Greenville as wide receivers coach. Dixon spent four seasons at Charleston Southern to begin his coaching career. He played his collegiate ball at Charleston Southern, starring as a quarterback.

Isaac Newland, who has been the Flames’ running backs coach and co-offensive coordinator the past three seasons, is now offensive coordinator and running backs coach. It is expected that Chadwell will be heavily involved in the offensive system and will likely handle some level of play-calling duties.

After three seasons serving as Liberty’s co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, Skylor Magee has officially had his coordinator duties stripped from his title as Shawn Quinn has taken over in that role.
