In a college football season, there are always numerous keys for a team to have a successful campaign. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, health is an obvious, so we will leave that one out, but here are our three main keys for Liberty’s 2020 football team.

1. Quarterback play. Liberty has a lot of new faces on offense, but the only one that really matters is at quarterback. The new running backs, wide receivers, and offensive linemen will be fine. If the Flames can find consistent quarterback play, the offense will be fine.

2. New linebackers need to step up. It’s no secret that linebacker is a position of concern for the Flames. Grad transfer Anthony Butler was brought in from Charlotte, but it will be some more unproven names that must step up – Aaron Pierre, Tyren Dupree, Malik Caper.

3. Kicking game. We knew that there would be an adjustment with Alex Probert transferring to Iowa State, but alarm bells went off earlier this week when Coach Freeze said unless the team found some consistency at kicker, his team would be going for it a lot on 4th down.
