The fall sports athletic calendar is underway with several Liberty teams in action. We will provide weekly updates on all of Liberty’s NCAA Division I teams competing this fall.

CROSS COUNTRY

Liberty All-American Calli Doan cruised to victory in the women’s 4K this past week in the season-opening Liberty Challenge. Will Jefferson finished second in the men’s 6K while making his Liberty cross country debut. No team scores were tallied during the opener, the Flames’ first home meet in three years. Next up on the schedule is the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational, scheduled for Sept. 16.

FIELD HOCKEY (2-1)

The Lady Flames saw their unbeaten record come to an end in the home opener this past Sunday, falling to William & Mary 1-0 in overtime. Liberty will get back in action this week, playing at No. 1 Northwestern on Friday at 5 p.m. on Big Ten Plus. Of course, this will be a rematch from last season’s national championship match in which Northwester won, 2-0. The Lady Flames will then welcome Queens to Lynchburg on Sunday at 1 p.m.

WOMEN’S SOCCER (4-1-1)

It was a perfect week for the women with wins over Marshall (3-2) and Richmond (1-0) as the Lady Flames improved to 4-1-1 on the season. Liberty will hit the road this weekend for a couple of matchups, first at Penn State on Thursday at 7 p.m. on Big Ten Plus and then on Sunday at Pitt at 1 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.

MEN’S SOCCER (1-1-1)

The Flames fell at No. 4 UCLA on Friday night, 5-2, their first loss of the year. The men open conference play this coming Saturday against Bellarmine at 1 p.m. in Lynchburg. Liberty will also play host to Davidson on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

VOLLEYBALL (4-2)

The volleyball team swept their three matches this past weekend in the Liberty Tournament, defeating Winthrop (3-1) on Friday and sweeping UNC Wilmington and Murray State. The Lady Flames head to California for the UC San Diego Tournament which begins on Friday at 1 p.m. against UC San Diego on ESPN+. As part of the tournament, Liberty will also play Pacific and New Mexico.
