Liberty defensive tackle Karsen Perkins has entered the transfer portal, he announced on his social media accounts. Perkins is a 6’4″, 265 defensive linemen who played in two games as a true freshman in 2020 and two games in 2021 without recording any stats. He played against Old Dominion and UMass this past season for the Flames.

The Flames have continued to upgrade their depth on the defensive line, including on the interior of the line, over recent seasons. Kendy Charles and Henry Chibueze figure to be starters in the fall with Dre Butler, Chris Boti, and true freshman Bryce Dixon all likely to figure into the rotation on the interior of the defensive line in 2022.

Originally from Concord, North Carolina where he attended Northwest Cabarrus High School, Perkins signed with Liberty over offers that included Charlotte and Akron. He played tight end and defensive end in high school where he registered 52 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, 25 QB hurries, 12 sacks, 2 interceptions, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery in 14 games.
