This weekend, Liberty will conclude the regular season as the Flames will be looking to lock up a spot in next week’s ASUN Tournament. Liberty will face Bellarmine at Liberty Baseball Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Thursday, 4:00 p.m. Friday, and 1 p.m. Saturday. Liberty is 7-1 all-time against Bellarmine.

Liberty is currently 24-27 on the season and 14-13 in the ASUN. The Flames are in a four-way tie for 5th place in the conference as the top 8 teams qualify for the conference tournament. Bellarmine is 12-40 overall and 7-20 in the ASUN. The Knights are currently in 13th place in the conference and have been eliminated from the tournament.

The Flames currently have an RPI of 72, the second best of all ASUN members just behind FGCU at No. 55. Lipscomb is the only other ASUN member currently ranked in the top 100 of the RPI at No. 97. Despite the losing overall record, it is Liberty’s tough schedule that has kept the RPI pretty high. The team’s current strength of schedule is ranked No. 34 while the non-conference strength of schedule is No. 1.

The top eight teams will advance to the ASUN Tournament. Liberty is currently in a four-way tie for 5th place. There are seven teams fighting for the final four spots in the championship and three of them will be eliminated following this week.

The team that finishes in first place at the end of the regular season will be the 1-seed in the ASUN Tournament while seeds 2-8 will be determined by RPI of the remaining teams that qualify for the tournament.
