Liberty co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach Kyle Krantz has been announced as the new Colorado State special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach. He will join new Colorado State head coach Jim Mora who recently left UConn for Colorado State.

Krantz joined the Liberty coaching staff in 2023 as special teams coordinator/co-defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach, also holding that position in 2024. In 2025, Krantz held the position of co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach.

Krantz is the third Liberty on field assistant coach that has officially moved on from the Flames’ following the conclusion of the 2025 season. He joins LB Coach Josh Linam and co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Willy Korn who are also moving on from Liberty’s staff. It’s the first time Liberty has had changes to its on-field coaching staff under head coach Jamey Chadwell who is entering his fourth season with the Flames.

Liberty is looking to rebound from a 4-8 season in 2025. The Flames were very successful in Chadwell’s first season in 2023, going 13-1, winning the CUSA Championship before advancing to the Fiesta Bowl against Oregon.
