On Monday, Liberty picked up a commitment from Stephen F. Austin transfer defensive tackle Dennis Osagiede. The 6’0″, 290 pound athlete has two seasons of eligibility remaining. His addition will help soften the blow of the loss to Henry Chibueze who announced his transfer from Liberty following the conclusion of spring practice.

Osagiede entered the transfer portal on April 29 before finding his new home at Liberty. Originally from Missouri City, Texas where he attended Ridge Point High School, Osagiede spent the past two seasons at Stephen F. Austin. In 2020, he played in 10 games while recording 31 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and 6 quarterback hurries. This past season, in 11 games played, Osagiede finished the year with 34 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, 3 quarterback hurries, and a fumble recovery.

He began his college career at UMass where he signed out of high school as a three-star rated prospect. As a true freshman in 2018 with the Minutemen, Osagiede played in 10 games and finished with 15 tackles on the season as a reserve defensive tackle. In 2019, before transferring to SFA, Osagiede played in 10 games at UMass while starting nine. He recorded 30 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and a quarterback hurry.

Osagiede started his own business, a clothing line, during his time at SFA and is able to profit from it under the new NIL rules.
