It has reached the time of year when the coaching carousel begins to heat up. Last week, it was Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze being mentioned for the now vacant Florida State head coaching position. On Sunday, Arkansas head coach Chad Morris was fired following a 4-18 stint with the Razorbacks.

Sportsbook BetOnline.ag has released odds for who will be Arkansas’ Head Coach in week 1 of the 2020 season, and Hugh Freeze’s name is on that list.

BetOnline has given Freeze 8/1 odds of being the next Arkansas head coach. Liberty’s first-year head coach has the 7th best odds of being the next coach, behind favorite Mike Norvell, currently the head coach at Memphis who has 2/1 odds.

Others listed are Appalachian State’s Eliah Drinkwitz (3/1), FAU’s Lane Kiffin (4/1), UAB’s Bill Clark (5/1), Washington State’s Mike Leach (6/1), SMU’s Sonny Dykes (6/1), Auburn’s Gus Malzahn (12/1), former Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino (18/1), and former Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt (25/1).

Freeze is familiar with the area as he coached at Arkansas State for two seasons including one as head coach before he went to Ole Miss.

Former Liberty head coach Turner Gill was hired this past off-season by Chad Morris to be the Executive Director of Student-Athlete and Staff Development at Arkansas.
