Liberty head coach Ritchie McKay will have a very familiar face on his bench and in his huddles next season as his son Gabriel McKay has announced he is returning home and will play for his dad and the Liberty Flames. McKay will transfer from Division II Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville, Tennessee where he has played the past two seasons under former Liberty assistant coach Omar Mance.

McKay will be a walk-on and joins the team in a similar role to that of his older brother Luke McKay who began as a team manager before being offered a walk-on spot. Luke completed his time on the men’s basketball roster this past season.

Gabriel played in 45 games and started six over the past two seasons at Trevecca Nazarene. He played 13.3 minutes per game and averaged 2.0 points per game during his time in Nashville.
