Liberty’s 2023 baseball season has come to an end, and the 2023 MLB Draft is scheduled for mid-July. It is expected that the Flames could add additional names to major league organizations at that time and they will join the growing list of former Flames currently with MLB organizations.

Here’s an update on the former Flames who are currently with MLB clubs:

Max Alba

Alba signed as an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Tigers. He’s currently with their A club the Lakeland Flying Tigers. This season he has posted a 2-5 record with 1 save and a 6.94 ERA. Alba has pitched 23.1 innings in 17 games out of the bullpen. He has 28 strikeouts and 11 walks.

DJ Artis

Artis was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 7th round of the 2018 draft. Since that time he has bee in the Cubs’ organization, recently playing on their Double-A affiliate the Tennessee Smokies. In 2021, Artis batted .189 with 7 home runs, 25 RBIs, and 19 steals. This season, Artis began with Tennessee before most recently being with the A+ South Bend Cubs. He’s played in 6 games there with a .333 batting average and 5 steals.

Evan Brabrand

Brabrand was selected by the Miami Marlins in the 9th round in 2019. He was released by the Marlins but continues to pitch with the Florence Y’Alls where he is 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA in four starts.

Dylan Cumming

Cumming went undrafted and signed with the Giants as a free agent following the 2022 college season. Pitching with the San Jose Giants in A ball, Cumming is 3-1 this season with a 3.03 ERA in 16 appearances. He has 29 strikeouts and 11 walks in 29.2 innings pitched.

Fraser Ellard

After a standout season with Liberty, Ellard was taken in the 8th round of the 2021 draft by the Chicago White Sox. He began last season with the Winston Salem Dash, a High-A affiliate, before getting called up to the White Sox’ Double-A affiliate the Birmingham Barons in late May.

He is back in Birmingham this summer, where he has a 6.75 ERA in 5 appearances. Ellard has struck out 8 and walked 5 in 5.1 innings.

Mason Fluharty

Fluharty was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2022 in the 5th round. He’s been in A+ and AA ball this summer where he has a 2-1 record and 1.16 ERA in 19 appearances. In 23.1 innings pitched, Fluharty has struck out 33 and walked 7.

Andrew McInvale

McInvale was drafted in the 37th round of the 2019 draft by the Toronto Blue Days. In June 2021, he was traded to the Miami Marlins. He spent some time in 2022 with their Double-A affiliate the Pensacola Blue Wahoos and began this summer with Pensacola again. He is now with the Kansas City Royals and their Double-A club the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. So far this season, he has a 10.80 ERA in 7 appearances and 11.2 innings pitched.

Noah Skirrow

Skirrow began the 2022 season in the Philadelphia Phillies organization with their Double-A affiliate the Reading Fightin Phils. This season, Skirrow has been with the Phillies’ AAA team, the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. He is 5-2 with a 6.08 ERA while making 11 appearances and 10 starts in 53.1 innings pitched.

Will Wagner

Wagner was taken in the 18th round of the 2021 draft by the Houston Astros. He began last season with their High-A affiliate the Asheville Tourists before being called up to the Double-A affiliate, the Corpus Christi Hooks, in early June. This year he remains with Corpus Christi and has a .270 batting average with 6 doubles, 2 home runs, and 11 RBIs in 20 games played.
