Liberty softball is in Newark, Delaware where the Lady Flames are seeking its third straight CUSA tournament championship and eighth conference title of all-time. Liberty enters the tournament field as the No. 3 seed and is one of eight teams that advanced to the CUSA Championship. Six of those teams will advance to a double elimination tournament this week culminating with a winner take all championship game Saturday.

All games will be streamed on ESPN+ with the exception of the championship game which will air on CBS Sports Network. We will be providing updates throughout the week on all the action in Bowling Green so check back here for the updates every day this week.

Wednesday, Day One, May 6, 2025 (ESPN+)

Game 1: (#5) New Mexico State 3, (#8) Sam Houston 0 (Sam Houston eliminated)

Faith Aragon struck out 11 batters to lead New Mexico State to a shutout win over Sam Houston in the first game of the CUSA Softball Championship. Aragon allowed just three hits and issued no free passers. Kendal Lunar was responsible for two of the Aggies’ three solo home runs in the game. Her first opened the scoring in the bottom of the second, and she hit the first of back-to-back blasts in the home half of the fourth, followed by another long ball from shortstop tamara Carranza.

Game 2: (#7) Louisiana Tech 2, (#6) FIU 1 (8 innings, FIU eliminated)

Allie Furr’s RBI single in the 8th inning helped Louisiana Tech to a win over FIU in an elimination game on Wednesday afternoon. With two outs and a pair of runners in scoring position, Furr sent one back up the middle and Jina Baffuto slid under the tag to plate the go-ahead run. The play came after the Bulldogs had recorded only one hit on the previous 14 at bats with runners in scoring position. Bryannah Campos entered the third inning and tossed six innings of scoreless relief while surrendering just one hit and tallying four strikeouts.

Game 3: (#4) Delaware 11, (#5) New Mexico State 7

The host Delaware plated four runs in the home half of the sixth to break a 7-7 tie and claim an 11-7 victory. After the Aggies put up a six spot to tie it in the top of the sixth, the Fightin’ Blue Hens responded in a big way by scoring all four runs with two outs, capped off by a bases-clearing double from Caylin Blazys. The high-powered Delaware offense built an early 7-1 lead thanks to a pair of home runs off the bat off of Maddie Diamond, as well as a three-run blast from Bridget Chapman.

Game 4: (#3) Liberty 9, (#7) Louisiana Tech 0 (5 innings)

Just a couple weeks ago, Louisiana Tech went into Lynchburg and swept the Lady Flames in a three-game series. It would be a much different scenario in this meeting. After Ella Fox led off the bottom of the first with a double, she scored after two straight sacrifice flys to put Liberty up 1-0. In the third, Savannah Jessee and Alexia Carrasquillo went back to back to extend the lead to 4-0. The Flames would then blow the game open in the fourth with a five run frame as Brynn McManus had a two RBI single and Savannah Jessee knocked in two runs on her double. Jessee finished the game with 5 RBI while Camden Anders held the Bulldogs scoreless through the five inning run-rule Liberty win.

Thursday, May 7 (ESPN+)

Game 5: (#1) Jacksonville State 7, (#4) Delaware 0

CUSA Pitcher of the Year Makenna Moore hurled a three-hit shutout to help lead the regular season champs to a victory over the host Delaware on Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Gamecocks advance to the semifinals of the 2026 CUSA Softball Championship. Moore (16-1) went the distance and limited the Blue Hens to just three singles and four walks while striking out six. Morgan Nowakowski tallied a pair of RBI singles and scored a couple runs while Jaci Underwood came around to score on each of her three hits in the game.

Game 6: (#3) Liberty 3, (#2) Western Kentucky 0

Camden Anders posted her second shutout in as many days, allowing just two hits and striking out five with two walks issued. She has pitched 12 scoreless innings through the first two games. Savannah Jessee continued her hot play, going 3 for 4 with an RBI. Brynn McManus was 2 for 3 with a run scored while Ella Fox scored twice. Alexia Carrasquillo and Maci Strickland also added RBI singles to push Liberty ahead 3-0. WKU did get out of two different bases loaded jams throughout the afternoon to stay within striking distance.

Game 7: (#7) Louisiana Tech 3, (#5) New Mexico State 1 (11 innings, NMSU eliminated)

For the second straight day, Louisiana Tech remained alive with an extra innings win, eliminating New Mexico State on Thursday night. The Bulldogs broke a 1-1 tie with a pair of RBI hits in the top of the 11th. The first came from Aleah Brooks and the second from Allie Furr. Bryannah Campos limited the Aggies to just one earned run on two hits through seven innings to earn her second win of the tournament. After surrendering a fifth inning solo home run, she cruised through the remaining six innings with only one hit allowed.

Game 8: (#2) Western Kentucky 4, (#4) Delaware 3 (Delaware eliminated)

Morgan Sharpe reached on an infield single and allowed Anna Mauch to plate the winning run in walk-off fashion for Western Kentucky. Mauck led the inning off with a hit and advanced on a sac bunt and fielders choice before Sharpe turned on the first pitch to initiate the game clinching play. Erica Houge earned the win after a he tossed three innings of not hit relief. She struck out four batters with just one walk. The Hilltoppers jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the third inning w hen Lauren Satterly tripled in a run and later scored on a sac fly. The Blue Hens answered in the ensuing half inning with a two-run inning.

Friday, May 8 (ESPN+)

Game 9: (#3) Liberty 7, (#1) Jacksonville State 2

Camden Anders continued her brilliant pitching performance in the CUSA Tournament, pitching her third straight complete game. She carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning and had a 1-hit shutout entering the bottom of the seventh before the Gamecocks scratched across two runs for the final score of 7-2. For the afternoon, Anders allowed 2 hits and 1 earned run while walking four and striking out eight in seven innings.

It was a scoreless pitcher’s dual into the fourth inning when Liberty’s Dani Lee smashed a three-run home run, scoring Paige Doerr and Aubry Norris as the Flames took the early lead. Brynn McManus added to the lead with a two-run shot in the fifth. Alexia Carrasquillo (5th inning) and Savannah Jessee (7th inning) had sacrifice fly’s to allow Liberty to stretch its lead to 7-0 entering the bottom of the seventh. Now, the Flames advance to Saturday’s winner-take-all championship game looking for a third straight CUSA championship after sending the regular season champ Jax State into the loser’s bracket where they face elimination later today.

Game 10: (#2) Western Kentucky 5, (#7) Louisiana Tech 2 (Louisiana Tech eliminated)

Jenna Blanton went 2 for 4 in the leadoff spot with a two-run double in the home half of the fourth that served as the game winner. Erica Houge went the distance for the Hilltoppers and allowed just one earned run on six hits, all singles.

Game 11: (#1) Jacksonville State 5, (#2) Western Kentucky 2 (Western Kentucky eliminated)

A four run fourth inning lifted top-seeded Jax State to a win, earning a spot in the title game of the Softball Championship on Saturday. Morgan Nowakowski blasted a 2-0 pitch into the parking lot behind the right field wall to break a 1-1 tie. Ashley Phillips padded the lead with a solo shot in the home half of the sixth. Jaliyah Holmes tossed a complete game, allowing just two earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
