Liberty travels to Oxford, Mississippi this week to face the 15th ranked Ole Miss Rebels this Saturday. Ole Miss is 6-2 heading into this game with wins over Louisville, Austin Peay, Tulane, Arkansas, Tennessee, and LSU this year. The Rebels will be looking to rebound this week against Liberty after losing to Auburn last week 31-20. Lane Kiffin stated that Liberty is not an easy opponent for them and wished they were playing an easier team for their last non-conference game of the season. He went on to state that Willis is a first round QB talent and provides a difficult test for the Rebels.

Kiffin is 72-41 all time with 5 bowl appearances. He has coached at Tennessee, USC, and FAU prior to taking over at Ole Miss. He was also an offensive coordinator at USC and Alabama.

There are numerous story lines involved in perhaps the biggest game in Liberty University history. Flames coach Hugh Freeze is the former head coach of Ole Miss and is facing his former school for the first time since departing 2016. Liberty’s Malik Willis is facing off against another first round projected quarterback in the Rebels Matt Corral and Liberty is facing an SEC opponent for the first time since playing Auburn in 2018. Additionally, Kiffin stated he has been notified that 22 NFL scouts, including general managers, are going to be in attendance Saturday for this game.
