1. Stony Brook 9-1, 5-0

Stony Brook was not overlooking VMI as they took care of business 45-7. The Seawolves are now 9-1 and have their season finale coming up this weekend in Lynchburg. With a win Saturday, Stony Brook will clinch their 2nd consecutive automatic birth into the FCS playoffs. Liberty hopes to play spoiler.

2. Coastal Carolina 5-4, 3-1

Coastal Carolina had a shootout with Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs, but was able to outlast the Bulldogs 55-33. If Coastal wins out against Presbyterian and Charleston Southern, they still have a chance to sneak in to the FCS playoffs. They will be cheering hard for Liberty to beat Stony Brook this weekend. If Coastal and Liberty wins out, Coastal will win the Big South auto-bid.

3. Liberty 4-5, 3-1

Liberty proved there would be no hangover after losing to Coastal last week, as they took care of business at home besting Charleston Southern 26-12. Now Liberty looks to play spoiler against Stony Brook who has cost Liberty 2 trips to the postseason. The home team has won this matchup every time in the series history; Liberty hopes this trend continues. If Liberty was to beat Stony Brook, the Flames would still need Coastal to lose one game to earn the Big South auto-bid.

4. Charleston Southern 4-5, 2-2

Charleston Southern was unable to pull the upset in Lynchburg as they fell 26-12. CSU has still had a good rebuilding season as they have 4 more victories than they did a season ago. The Buccaneers hope to grab a stranglehold onto the #4 spot in the Big South as they have a key matchup with Gardner-Webb looming.

5. Gardner Webb 2-7, 1-3

Gardner Webb made a game of it with Coastal until the 4th quarter, but was unable to stop the Chanticleers enough to win as they fall 55-33. GWU closes out their season with 2 chances at a victory as they face Charleston Southern and Presbyterian.

6. VMI 2-7, 1-4

At least VMI didn’t get shut out on Long Island as the Keydets lost 45-7. That’s no different than any other Big South foe fared in New York this season. VMI steps out of conference play this week for their clash with the Citadel in the Military Classic of the South.

7. Presbyterian 2-7, 0-4

Presbyterian is coming off a bye week as they look to get back on the right track in their final 2 games against Coastal Carolina and Gardner Webb. This has certainly been a disappointing season for the Blue Hose in their first season they were eligible for the Big South conference championship after transitioning from NCAA Division II.
