Conference play gets cranked up this week after the Big South put together its most impressive nonconference performance in conference history. Unless Coastal runs away with it, it should be a very competitive race for the Big South auto-bid.

1. (1) Coastal Carolina 5-0

The top 10 ranked Chanticleers were off this week and start off conference play this Saturday against Gardner-Webb in a game that will have conference championship implications.

2. (3) Charleston Southern 6-0

Charleston Southern did what they were supposed to do in knocking off Division II North Greenville. Now we’ll see if the Buccaneers can carry their 6-0 start into conference play and compete for the conference championship.

3. (2) Gardner Webb 4-2

The Runnin’ Bulldogs had a disappointing loss to start-up program Charlotte. The 49ers scored 29 points in the 4th quarter to come from behind and beat Gardner-Webb 53-51.

4. (4) Liberty 3-3

The Flames dropped a heartbreaker to Old Dominion, 21-17. Liberty led 17-7 with about 5 minutes to play in the game before the Monarchs scored the final 14 points to steal the game.

5. (5) Presbyterian 1-4

Presbyterian got annihilated by Wofford 55-14. The Blue Hose are just not a competitive program right now.

6. (6) VMI 1-4

The Keydets were off this week, and will look to start off conference play with a win next week. VMI will take on 6-0 Charleston Southern in Lexington.
