Liberty went 4-0 this week in baseball, improving their RPI by 59 spots to 87th.

This was a huge week for the Flames. The Kent State Golden Flashes came into the series at 7-3 on the season, but Liberty got out their brooms and sent them home at 7-6. They then downed Elon at Elon in a midweek matchup to finish up a perfect 4-0 week.

Alex Close had a phenomenal series against Kent State, recording 6 RBIs and one in every game against the Golden Flashes.  Also, Dalton Britt finished the week 6-15 from the plate with a hit in every game of the week.

The pitching staff had a huge week on the mound, never giving up more than two runs in a game. It was an all around great effort from the entire staff.

Player of the Week: Alex Close

It’s tough to choose a player of the week when the entire team had such a good week, but Close’s ability to drive in runs this week (6 RBIs) will earn him the honors. He went 5-13 on the week and also had many key plays such as sacrifice flies. He is now hitting .349 with two home runs and a .524 slugging percentage. He also leads the team with 20 RBIs on the season. He is currently playing as good as ever.
