Liberty starting pitcher Joe Adametz, III and designated hitter Brady Gulakowski were named first-team all-ASUN on Tuesday morning, the league announced.

Additionally, starting pitcher Garrett Horn, relief pitcher Mason Fluharty, and catcher Gray Betts were named to the ASUN All-Conference Second-Team and Horn and shortstop Cameron Foster were voted to the ASUN’s All-Freshmen Team.

Liberty’s Aaron Anderson was named the ASUN’s Scholar Athlete of the Year, becoming the first Flame in program history to be named the ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the year and the fifth conference scholar-athlete of the year all-time. Gray Betts was also named to the 2022 ASUN Conference All-Academic Team.

Returning this season after missing the 2021 campaign due to Tommy John surgery, Adametz has posted a 6-3 record with a 2.02 ERA while starting 14 games this season. He has struck out 68 while walking 20 and has held opponents to a .273 batting average.

Gulakowski has a .255 batting average as he has made 50 starts and played in 51 games this season. The slugger has 14 doubles and is second on the team with 13 home runs so far this season to go along with 54 runs batted in and 36 runs scored.

Fluharty has been one of Liberty’s top relievers this season, leading the team with 23 appearances. He has posted a 4-3 record with a 3.51 ERA while striking out 72 batters and walking just nine in 41 innings pitched.

Betts, who is a member of the 2022 Buster Posey Catcher of the Year Watch List, currently has a .298 batting average with 32 RBI and 34 runs scored. He has 13 doubles and a career-high six home runs this season. Betts has 18 multi-hit games this season and is third in the ASUN in runners caught stealing, having thrown out 14 would-be base stealers this year.

A true freshman, Horn has taken the league by storm this season. He has a 6-1 record with a 1.93 ERA while pitching 51.1 innings this season. He has struck out 80 and walked 24 while holding opponents to a .167 batting average this season.

Foster has started all 53 games this season, spending most of his time at second base and third base. He has a .255 batting average with 4 home runs and 16 doubles.

Anderson, a senior is one of three Flames to have started all 53 games this season. He leads the team with a .313 batting average and 67 hits. Anderson has 38 RBI and 38 runs scored. He ranks in the top 10 in the ASUN with 16 doubles is in the top 15 in the conference with a .424 on-base percentage. Anderson leads the Flames with 21 multi-hit games and has hit five home runs in 2022.
