Byers has received an offer from Youngstown State. He also has interest from Liberty, Clemson, Michigan, Appalachian State, Charlotte, Duke, Furman, and others. In 2012, Byers recorded 76 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 3 fumble recoveries. Byers was named to the 2012 South Mountain Athletic Conference all-league team.
