Andrew Smith continues his stellar play with a double double.

1. Liberty falls to Winthrop 73-62 in their third straight loss. They’ve now lost 5 of their last 6.

2. This was a tight game up until the final 4:02 where Liberty, once again, allowed a 17-8 score to end the game.

3. The loss takes the Flames to 3-6 in the conference and 9-15 overall.

4. Antwan Burrus had another nice game. He tallied 16 points off the bench.

5. Andrew Smith continues his stellar play with a double double, 12 points and 10 rebounds. Tomasz Gielo almost recorded one as well with 9 points and 9 rebounds.

6. John-Caleb Sanders added 14 points and 4 assists, but continues to struggle from 3. He is 4 of 24 from range over the past six games.

7. Winthrop was led by Joab Jerome who scored 19 with 7 rebounds.

8. Down seven with 2:10 in the game Liberty fouled Tevin Prescott, and were forced to play the foul game from there on. Winthrop was money from the line, hitting 10 of 10 to end the game.

9. Comparison: Liberty shot 43% to Winthrop’s 50%. Liberty hit just 2 of 12 three point attempts while Winthrop hit 5 of 13. Liberty went 12-20 from the line; Winthrop shot an impressive 22 of 27. The Flames won the rebounding battle 35-30 and both teams had 11 turnovers.

10. It doesn’t get any easier for the Flames, they’ll take on UNC Asheville in Asheville on Saturday.
