A career night from Scottie James and a 17-0 run helped Liberty avenge a loss to Longwood earlier this season, defeating the Lancers 67-55 in Farmville.

The two teams went back and forth throughout the first half before the Flames concluded the first half on a 7-0 run sparked by a turnover and Ezra Talbert dunk just before the buzzer. To start the 2nd half, Liberty extended the run to 17-0 to seize control of the game.

Scottie James, who tied a career high with 21 points Thursday night against Winthrop, set a new career high with 26 points on 8/13 shooting and 9/10 from the free throw line. He added 9 rebounds to his stat line and should be in consideration for Big South Player of the Week following his 2 performances this week.

Caleb Homesley had his best game of the season as he filled the stat sheet with 9 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks.

Getting his first start after returning from a right knee injury, Lovell Cabbil recorded 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Myo Baxter-Bell chipped in 8 points while Georgie Pacheco-Ortiz added 6.

It is Liberty’s 3rd straight win as the Flames move to 6-6 in Big South play. Coach McKay’s squad returns to action at Charleston Southern Wednesday.
