Liberty wide receiver Antonio Gandy-Golden has had a remarkable senior season, as he currently leads all of FBS with 1,244 receiving yards. Prior to the season he was already on the minds of NFL scouts, but his productivity this year has pushed it to a new level.

For example, when the Flames played at Rutgers earlier this season, there were five NFL scouts on hand to watch the 6’4″ receiver in person.

WalterFootball.com has had AGG as a projected first round pick most of this season. The website currently projects him to be picked 30th overall by the New Orleans Saints.

“The Saints have a big need at receiver across from Michael Thoms,” the website states. “They tried to find a no. 2 wideout last year when they signed Dez Bryant. Here’s their chance to make amends for that. Antonio Gandy-Golden has great size (6-4, 220) and hands. Level of competition is a question mark.”

DraftSite also projects him as a first round NFL pick, currently going number 27 overall to the Indianapolis Colts.

If he is drafted, Gandy-Golden will be the first Liberty player taken in the NFL Draft since Walt Aikens was selected in the 4th round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. The Flames have had one player selected in the first round of the NFL Draft, as tight end Eric Green was taken with the 21st overall pick in 1990 by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Earlier this year, AGG was selected to play in the 2020 Reese’s Senior Bowl which is the most prestigious Postseason All-Star event that college football has, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for seniors to raise their draft stock significantly. It annually features the country’s best senior collegiate football players and top NFL draft prospects on teams representing the North and South that are coached by entire coaching staffs of two NFL teams. The 2019 Senior Bowl produced 10 first-round draft picks and 40 players that were selected in the first three rounds of the 2019 NFL draft.
