Over the past several years, Liberty has produced a number of professional basketball players, and several of them continue to play, whether in the States or overseas. Here’s an update on where several former Flames are playing.

Myo Baxter-Bell

Baxter-Bell recently signed with San Isidro in the Argentine Basketball League, joining them in early March.

Lovell Cabbil

Cabbil played for Mgzavrebi in Georgia during the 2019-20 season where he played in 9 games and averaged 30.6 minutes, 14.6 points, 5.1 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game while shooting 31.5% from the field and 27.4% from three.

Ray Chen

Chen is in his fourth season playing for Guangzhou in the Chinese basketball league. He’s played in 54 games this season and is averaging 34.7 minutes, 13.5 points, 7.5 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting 45.3% from the field and 38.8% from three.

Tomasz Gielo

After finishing his collegiate career at Ole Miss as a grad transfer, Gielo has spent the past five seasons playing professionally, all of his time playing in Spain. This season, Gielo has been playing for MoraBanc Andorra where he has played in 17 games. Gielo is averaging 17.3 minutes, 7.8 points, and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 47.1% from the field and 48.4% from three.

Keenan Gumbs

Gumbs is currently playing for Nassjo in Sweden where he has averaged 16.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per games while playing 26.3 minutes per game in 30 games played. Following his one season at Liberty in 2018-19, Gumbs spent some time in the Eurobasket Summer League before playing for the Kapfenberg Bulls for one season until he joined Nassjo in Sweden.

Caleb Homesley

After signing a short-term contract with the Washington Wizards, Homesley signed with the Erie BayHawks for the 2021 season. He finished the regular season averaging 24.9 minutes, 9.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 40.6% from the field and 34.7% from three-point range.

Scottie James

James is playing for the Jobstairs Giessen 46ers in Germany, competing in the top league in that country. In 29 games played, James is averaging 9.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while playing in 22.7 minutes each contest. He’s shooting 58% from the field and 31.9% from three-point range.

Drew Smith

In his 5th season playing professionally, Drew Smith played in two games this past season for Science City Jena in Germany where he averaged 16 minutes, 12.5 points, and 2.0 rebounds per game.

Anthony Smith

Smith played 19 games during the 2019-20 season for Regatas Corrientes in Argentina, his third year in Argentina and 11th total year playing professionally. Smith averaged 22.7 minutes, 8.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 46.9% from the field and 30.3% from three.
