Over the past several years, Liberty has produced a number of professional basketball players, and several of them continue to play, whether in the States or overseas. Here’s an update on where several former Flames are playing.

Lovell Cabbil

Cabbil is currently competing in Germany’s Pro A League where he is playing for PS Karlsruhe. He has started 19 of 20 games this season while averaging 30.1 minutes, 18.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per contest. Cabbil is shooting 45.6% from the field and 42.2% from three-point range.

Ray Chen

Chen has started all 28 games he’s played in for the Guangzhou Loong Lions in the Chinese CBA. He’s playing 37.8 minutes per game while averaging 18.8 points, 8 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game. Chen, who transferred to Liberty from Belmont Abbey for his final season of eligibility in college, is shooting 46.6% from the field and 31.9% from three this season.

Tomasz Gielo

After finishing his collegiate career at Ole Miss as a grad transfer, Gielo has spent the past seven seasons playing professionally. His first five years were all in Spain. This season, Gielo is playing for Merkezefendi Belediyesi Denizli in the Turkish professional league. He has played in 9 games and is averaging 24.8 minutes, 9.0 points, and 3.0 rebounds per game.

Keenan Gumbs

Gumbs has started 7 of 8 games he’s played in for DEAC in Hungary. He is averaging 20.6 minutes, 9.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.

Caleb Homesley

Homesley currently plays Zenit Saint Petersburg in the Russian Premier League where he has started 16 of 28 games he’s played in. Homesley is playing 21.7 minutes per game while averaging 10.6 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. He is shooting 39.5% from the field and 38.1% from three.

Scottie James

James is playing for Tianjin Ronggang in the Chinese professional basketball league. In 19 games this season, 12 of which he has started, James is averaging 19.2 minutes, 16.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. He is shooting 50.2% from the field and 31.0% from three-point range.

Drew Smith

In his 8th season playing professionally, Drew Smith is playing for Feli Pharma Ferrara in the Italian Basketball League. He is averaging 29 minutes, 11.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game this season.
