#8 Longwood 75, #9 Charleston Southern 69

The Lancers didn’t take the lead until the last 8 minutes of the game, but they were able to outlast the Bucs. All 5 starters scored in double figures for Longwood, led by Darrion Allen’s 22 points.  Armel Potter scored 13 points in the first 10 minutes of the game for Charleston Southern and finished the game with 28 points on 6/9 shooting from 3. The Lancers advance to take on #1 High Point at noon on Friday.

#10 Presbyterian 65, #7 Radford 64

DeSean Murray’s tip-in as the buzzer sounded lifted No. 10 Presbyterian to a 65-64 comeback win over No. 7 Radford in the first round of the Big South Men’s Basketball Tournament in Buies Creek.  It is the Blue Hose’s first-ever Big South Tournament victory and moves PC into the quarterfinals against No. 2 Winthrop Friday at 6:00pm on ESPN3. Murray finished with a game-high 19 points.

#6 Gardner-Webb 79, #11 Campbell 69

Harold McBride and Adonis Burbage scored 18 points each and sixth-seeded Gardner-Webb beat tournament host, 11th-seeded Campbell, 79-69 in the first round of the Big South tournament. The Runnin’ Bulldogs (16-15), who shot 53 percent, play No. 3 seed and two-time defending champion Coastal Carolina on Friday. Gardner-Webb never trailed and led by 16 with five minutes left in the first half, but Campbell was able to tie the game at 53 with 7 minutes left. Gardner-Webb responded with an 11-3 run to seize control of the game for the final time.
