Peter Aluma or Julius Nwosu? Caleb Homesley or Larry Blair? Old school or new school? Debates over who is the greatest Liberty basketball player can vary, and we have done our best to identify the best of the best, ranking the greatest players in school history.

With hundreds of basketball players to suit up for the Flames over the years, just making this list is a huge honor, but who will be in the coveted top spot? Factors given include individual talent, individual accomplishments, and team accomplishments. Our list begins with Nos. 25 through 21. Check back Tuesday for 20-16 as we unveil the entire top 25 this week.

25. Mark Chafin, 1975-78

Chafin was a three-year starter, earning all-district honors three times. He was one of Liberty’s most prolific scorers and he currently ranks No. 4 on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,947 points. He still ranks among the program’s career leaders in assists, field goals, free throws, and steals, as well.

24. Davon Marshall, 2013-14

A JUCO transfer, Marshall excelled in his two years in a Liberty uniform where he scored 803 points in just the two seasons, which ranks No. 38 in school history. He was named the Big South Tournament MVP in 2013 as he helped lead the program to its third NCAA Tournament appearance with his 17 made three-pointers during the tournament run in Conway, South Carolina.

23. Myo Baxter-Bell, 2017-20

Baxter-Bell was part of the group of players that helped turn the Liberty basketball program from one of the worst in the country to one of the best mid-major programs in the country. He was a part of the two best teams in school history as the Flames won 102 games during his time on campus. He finished his career ranked in the top 40 in points, rebounds, and assists.

22. Kyle Ohman, 2007-10

Ohman is one of the more decorated three-point shooters in Liberty history as he currently ranks No.6 with 200 career makes from distance. Beginning his career as a walk-on, Ohman is currently ranked in the top 30 in points, rebounds, and assists.

21. John Caleb Sanders, 2011-14

John Caleb Sanders was part of the 2013 Big South Championship team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament. One of the more prolific scorers in school history, Sanders is currently No. 16 on the program’s all-time scoring list with 1,384 points. He also ranks No. 11 in assists and in the top 50 for career rebounds.
