The Flames picked up their first commitment from a quarterback in the class of 2018 over the weekend as Brandon Robinson gave his pledge following his official visit over the weekend. Robinson is a 6’4″, 210 pound quarterback from Irvington High School in Irvington, New Jersey. Liberty was his only reported FBS offer.

Coach Gill and staff had pitched several other signal callers to join the class including Caleb Lynum who visited prior to the December signing period. Lynum signed with FIU. Dual threat QB/athlete Jacquez Carter also took an official visit to Liberty a week ago. Carter has several offers including UMass, Kent State, and Toledo, but Liberty is his only reported official visit destination.

With Robinson’s commitment, Liberty’s Class of 2018 has reached 26 which includes 19 that signed in the December signing period. The Flames have also picked up a transfer from Colorado in wide receiver Johnny Huntley. The 26 commitments includes 7 Junior College transfers.

Two JUCO defensive linemen from California took their official visits to Liberty this past weekend as Jesse Lemonier and Noel “Juice” Iwuchukwu were on campus. Lemonier is a 6’2″, 240 pound defensive end from Ventura Community College in Ventura, California. He’s originally from Hialeah High School in Miami. He has offers from Portland State, Miami (OH), UMass, and New Mexico. Iwuchukwu is a 6’2″, 240 pound defensive lineman from Los Angeles where he attended Notre Dame High School and is currently at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California. He has offers from Idaho, Montana State, and Portland State.

Liberty is also waiting official word from running back Elijah Davis. The local star from Heritage High School in Lynchburg has visited his top 3 of JMU, Liberty, and ODU in consecutive weeks.

Former Liberty commit Uriah West announced his commitment to Jacksonville State this week. West is a 2 star running back from Douglasville, Georgia. He committed to Liberty in August, but recanted on his pledge in December after taking an official visit to Lynchburg.

Robinson and the other commitments who have yet to sign can do so beginning February 7th. The Flames currently have commitments from Robinson, Dacoda Weaver, Marcellous Harris, Ricky Lester, Javon Scruggs, and JUCO transfers Chris Barrett and Isaac Steele.
