Liberty has picked up a commitment from Northwestern transfer offensive tackle Braeden Edwards who recently visited the Flames.

Edwards is a 6’6″, 315 pound offensive lineman originally from West Des Moines, Iowa. He has spent the past four seasons at Northwestern and has one season of eligibility remaining. As a walk-on offensive lineman, Edwards played in two games for the Wildcats in 2023.

He attended Valley High School where he was honorable mention all-district in football and helped lead the Tigers to the third round of the state playoffs in 2020 before the season was postponed. He also was the member of three State championship track and field teams while competing in shot put and discus.

The Flames have some holes to fill on the offensive line including the loss of Xavior Gray who started at right tackle for the Flames before transferring to Northwestern. Aaron Fenimore has established himself as a starter and leader for the team and offense at center. Jack Tucker and Harrison Hayes are returning starters. DJ Geth could also break into a starting spot at one of the guard positions. Several incoming transfers will look to bolster the depth in addition to Edwards including Trey Bedosky (UAB), Erwil Anthony (Wingate), Christian Williams (Florida), and Da’Jy’Quwan Jackson (JUCO).
