Skalaski to Eastern Kentucky
Liberty director player personnel and recruiting, Charlie Skalaski, is leaving the Flames to join Eastern Kentucky as an associate head coach, wide receivers coach, and recruiting coordinator. Skalaski served 2 stints at Liberty, including his most recent when he returned in 2014 after coaching the Jacksonville Jaguars. Skalaski’s assistant, Kettie Fickter, is expected to officially be named as his replacement.

The Williams Stadium turf project is nearing its completion.

Tim East hired as Senior Associate AD
East comes to Liberty after 20 years at Virginia Tech where he was the Senior Associate AD for External Operation since 2006, the same title he will hold at LU. In this newly created position, he will manage all aspects of Liberty’s external operations with direct oversight of communications, sponsorships, tickets, fan experience, promotions, development, broadcasting and video services. petey4 Flames named preseason All-American
The Sports Network and SATCH released their preseason FCS All-Americans list earlier this week. Darrin Peterson, Jonathan Burgess, and John Lunsford were all named to the first team while Chima Uzowihe was named 2nd team. The 3 Flames named to the first team are more than any other team. The 4 total Flames named to an All-American team are tied for the 2nd most in all of FCS, trailing only North Dakota State.

Tillmon commit
Coach Gill and company picked up a commitment from Brandon Tillmon on June 27th. Tillmon, a 2-star rated prospect, will play safety for the Flames. He also confirmed that he intends to play both baseball and football at Liberty. Tillmon is the 4th commit in the Class of 2016, joining Rudiger Yearick, Ethan Crawford and Jalen Camp.

DJ Artis reconfirms his commitment to LU
DJ Artis, who signed to play baseball with Liberty but was drafted by the Boston Red Sox, has decided to honor his commitment to Coach Toman and the Flames.
