There are two weeks left in the regular season and Liberty baseball is firmly in the mix to win the ASUN as the Flames currently reside in first place in the ASUN’s East Division. The easiest and most direct path to the NCAA Tournament is to win the ASUN Tournament and clinch the league’s automatic bid, obviously, but the Flames also have a pretty good chance at earning an at-large birth should the team falter.

Should Liberty advance to the NCAA Tournament, here’s a look at the the most likely destinations for the Flames who would likely be either a No. 2 or 3 seed if they get in:

Blacksburg, Virginia

The Hokies are one of the hottest teams in the country and have forged their way into the discussion as a regional host. Virginia Tech is currently 33-10 overall and has an RPI of No. 9.

Charlottesville, Virginia

Virginia is currently 34-12 overall and, with a strong finish to the regular season, will likely be a regional host. The Cavaliers currently have an RPI of No. 14.

Knoxville, Tennessee

Liberty is no stranger to the Knoxville Regional as the Flames played there last season and advanced to the Regional Final before having the season come to an end against the Volunteers. This year, Tennessee is the top team in the country with a 42-6 overall record and the best RPI in America.

Others:

A couple of others that are likely to be regional hosts but might be a little further away than Liberty will need to travel are Louisville and Georgia. We could also see teams like Wake Forest, Maryland, or NC State get hot and enter into host conversation.
