Following Liberty’s win over Lipscomb Sunday afternoon in the Vines Center, the Bisons’ head coach Lennie Acuff had a lot of glowing remarks about the Flames. Here are some of his comments:

On the Flames’ post presence:

“I think (Myo Baxter) Bell is a really good post defender. That’s what makes them different than anybody we’ve played below the Power Five because they’ve got two guys. They’ve got 10 fouls. That’s a big difference. We have ridden Ahsan (Asadullah) all year long. He’s great, but those big dudes leaning on you…”

On Liberty’s roster:

“I think (Georgie Pacheco) Ortiz at the point is so underrated, unbelievably underrated. (Darius) McGhee has unbelievable firepower. He can blow the game open. Homesley’s a pro now. Today, he was a pro. I hope there were some NBA guys here because he made some money today. He was big time today. Then there’s Cuffee, who has really been struggling. Good for him, bad for us, but then you throw the two big guys in there…two huge guys. Most of the time, below the Power Five, you don’t have two of those guys. We have Ahsan and we don’t have another guy like that. So, that’s why they can be really competitive at a higher level.”

“I think the guy that stirs the drink is Ortiz at the point. He is a winning player.”

On Liberty’s chances in the Big Dance:

“I think they’re going to win a game in the tournament. I wouldn’t want to play them.”
