On Monday, Liberty (41-19) was selected as an at-large into the 2026 NCAA Baseball Tournament, making it as one of the last four teams into the field. The Flames are the No. 3 seed in the Athens Regional and will take on No. 2 seed Boston College (36-21) on Friday at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.

It was Liberty’s non-conference schedule and its performance in those games that helped the Flames put together the quality resume it needed to get into the field despite not earning the CUSA’s automatic bid after losing to Jacksonville State in Sunday’s championship game.

The Flames boast an RPI of 32, strength of schedule of 64, and non-conference strength of schedule of 37. Liberty finished in second place in Conference USA with a 21-9 mark in conference play. The Flames’ schedule also featured games against top 50 opponents in West Virginia, Wake Forest, Missouri State, Jacksonville State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, The Citadel, and High Point. Liberty was 10-12 against those teams.

Liberty played eight teams that made the 2026 NCAA Baseball Regional fields, including fellow CUSA members Jacksonville State and Missouri State.
