Following Liberty’s win over Virginia Tech on Tuesday night in Blacksburg, the Flames have improved to 15-17 overall and 6-6 in conference play entering this weekend’s series at Kennesaw State, beginning Friday.

Liberty will be looking to win a second straight ASUN series this weekend when the Flames travel to Georgia to take on Kennesaw State. The Owls are currently 15-16 on the season and 6-6 in ASUN play. They defeated Mercer, 12-6, on Wednesday night. KSU is coming off a series at Austin Peay where they dropped two of three games this past weekend.

Kennesaw State was 36-28 overall last season including a 19-11 mark in the ASUN. They defeated Liberty in the ASUN Tournament championship game, advancing to an NCAA Regional. The Owls would go 1-2 in the Hattiesburg Regional.

Brayden Eidson leads the team in batting with a .347 batting average. He has 6 doubles, 2 triples, and 3 home runs with 12 RBIs. Nick Colina is the only other player batting over .300 with a .313 average. Donovan Cash leads the team with 6 home runs and 35 RBIs with a .283 batting average.

Nick Zegna, Braden Osbolt, and Blake Wehunt have made up the starting weekend rotation for Kennesaw State for most of the season. Zegna currently has a 4.67 ERA with a 3-3 record in his 7 starts and 8 appearances this season. He’s pitched 34.2 innings with 44 strikeouts and 16 walks.

Osbolt has made 8 starts and has a 1-0 record with a 4.95 ERA. He’s pitched 36.1 innings with 22 strikeouts and 17 walks. Wehunt has also made 8 starts with a 3-3 record and 5.22 ERA. He’s pitched 39.2 innings with 47 strikeouts and 11 walks.

Liberty is 15-7 all-time against the Owls in a series that has become a nice rivalry in the ASUN among two of the best programs in the conference. The three games from Stillwell Baseball Stadium in Kennesaw, Georgia this weekend have first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. Sunday.
