greeneLiberty will play at North Texas in 2016, according to a media release. North Texas is a member of Conference USA and finished the 2014 season with a record of 4-8.

The Mean Green are the 2nd reported nonconference opponent for Liberty’s 2016 football schedule joining Virginia Tech. Athletic Director Jeff Barber has stated he wants the Flames to play 2 FBS opponents each season. Liberty played North Carolina and Appalachian State in 2014 and will play West Virginia and Georgia State in 2015.

Liberty is also scheduled to play at Baylor in 2017. Since Turner Gill has become Liberty’s head coach, the Flames have aggressively recruited in Texas. Liberty had 9 players from Texas on their roster in 2014 and signed 3 from Texas in their 2015 recruiting class.

Gill began his coaching career at North Texas in 1989 as a graduate assistant. He also received his bachelor’s degree from North Texas in 1990.
