Liberty spring football practice has been suspended indefinitely at least through April 5th, Liberty Athletic Director Ian McCaw said in a spring update video.

“The action taken by the ASUN Board impacts all sports on campus whether it’s an ASUN sport or not,” McCaw stated.

The ASUN has suspended all spring sports through the rest of the season and practices have been suspended through at least April 5.

“At this point, spring football has been suspended indefinitely at least through April 5,” McCaw continued. “I think it’s unlikely we resume after that just based on the environment at this point in time and some of the directives about large gatherings.”

Under 2nd year head coach Hugh Freeze, the Liberty football team had five spring practices before breaking this week for spring break. The team was expected to return to practice on Monday, March 23rd. Earlier this week, Liberty University adjusted course and moved all classes to the online format.

“As our student-athletes transition home to take online classes for the remainder of the semester,” McCaw continued, “I don’t anticipate we’d resume spring football practice.”
