Thanks in part to the right leg of kicker Alex Barbir, the Liberty Flames improved to 7-0 in a 38-35 win at Virginia Tech (4-3) on Saturday afternoon. That marks the program’s best ever start in program history and the second win in school history over an ACC opponent, both coming this season.

Liberty has moved into the Coaches Top 25 Poll for the first time in school history, checking in at No. 22, with 234 points. Meanwhile, in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, the Flames are also ranked No. 22, moving up from last week’s No. 25 ranking.

The Flames are scheduled to face Western Carolina in Lynchburg, Virginia at Williams Stadium this coming Saturday with kickoff at noon on ESPN3.

In action on Saturday, No. 1 Clemson was defeated by No. 4 Notre Dame in two overtimes while No. 8 Florida got the best of No. 5 Georgia in Jacksonville.

Coastal Carolina (7-0) continues to be ranked in both polls following their win over South Alabama Saturday night. The Chanticleers are No. 17 in the Coaches Poll and No. 15 in the AP Poll. The Flames and Chanticleers are scheduled to square off on Dec. 5 in Conway, South Carolina.

Virginia Tech received 2 votes in the Coaches Poll.
