Liberty recently opened the brand new Liberty Football Center which will serve as the team’s headquarters. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the general public and/or media has not been able to tour the facility, but Liberty Athletics has unveiled a virtual tour.

Prior to releasing this video, the Flames held a Zoom team viewing party with its players earlier in the day. The team was supposed to get a tour of the facility on site upon return from Spring Break March 22. However, spring practice was suspended while the players were away from campus due to the spread of COVID-19.

Construction took 16 months and was delayed slightly during the final few weeks as construction and IT support were crews were limited to groups of 10 or fewer due to the social distancing policies in place around the country.

The LFC is 65,455 square feet and cost $25 million. The top floor houses 17 offices for the Flames’ football staff, 10 position meeting rooms, and offensive and defensive meeting room, and a 147-seat team meeting room.

The ground floor includes the new locker room with 122 lockers and an attached equipment room as well as a 13,000 square foot player’s lounge and a nutrition center which can accommodate up to 130 people. This area will also be utilized for recruiting during home games.

A glass enclosed cardio workout room replaced the existing front entrance to the operations center and the workout area overlooks the lower level

The ground floor also includes a press room and new training room which includes 11 treatment beds, an onsite x-ray room, plus hydrotherapy pools.

The lower level of the facility is a 16,000 square foot weight room.

“It is spectacular,” Liberty Athletic Director Ian McCaw said of the facility. “It’s really going to be a game changer for us. Between the LFC and the indoor practice facility, those give us elite Power Five level facilities for a football program. We’re really excited about what that’s going to do for us.”
