Liberty football has opened as a 7-point favorite against Syracuse, as Week 4 opening lines were announced on Sunday. The Flames (3-0) will travel to Syracuse (2-1) to face the Orange in the Carrier Dome on Friday at 8 p.m.

This is the third time in program history that Liberty has been a favorite against a Power Five team, as the Flames were also the favorite in last season’s game at Syracuse and the 2019 game at Rutgers. Liberty opened last year’s game against the Orange as a 2.5 point favorite being winning 38-21. In New Jersey against Rutgers, the Flames were a 7.5-point road favorite before losing to the Scarlet Knights, 44-34.

The Flames have moved to 3-0 thanks to wins over Campbell, Troy, and Old Dominion to open the season. Syracuse is 2-1 following their win over Albany, 62-24, Saturday afternoon. The Orange opened the year with a 29-9 win at Ohio before falling at home to Rutgers, 17-7.

Syracuse freshman running back Sean Tucker had a career game against Albany this weekend. The 5’10”, 210 pound back rushed 13 times for 132 yards and 4 touchdowns while also leading the team with 121 receiving yards and another score on his 3 receptions.

Syracuse beat Liberty 24-0 at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Va to open the 2019 season in Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze’s debut as the Flames’ coach. Of course, he coached that game from the coaches box in a hospital bed. The Flames got some revenge last season in the Carrier Dome with a 38-21 win over the Orange.

This year’s game will be played this Friday at 8 p.m. and televised on ACC Network.
