Liberty has offered Fitzgerald West, a three-star rated defensive tackle from Lafayette, Louisiana. The Class of 2022 prospect attends Lafayette Christian Academy, the same school where dual-sport athlete Brylan Green (who took an official visit to Liberty this past weekend) attends.

West is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports, who ranks him as the No. 43 prospect in Louisiana and the No. 138 defensive lineman in the country. The 6’2″, 325 pound athlete has offers from LSU, Alabama, Louisiana, UL Monroe, SMU, Colorado, Louisiana Tech, Oregon, Southern Miss, Memphis, and several other schools.

West plays on both the offensive and defensive lines. He plays guard and center on offense and nose guard and tackle on defense. He has been recruited for positions on both sides of the line. His LSU offer came on the offensive line at center. He says the Flames have offered him on the defensive side of the ball.

“It was a blessing knowing that a team from Virginia found me all the way in Louisiana,” West told ASOR of his offer from the Flames. West also noted that he and Green have frequently discussed playing their college football at the same school.

Last season, West was named to the Acadiana Advocate’s All-Metro team after he recorded 51 tackles. West, who has not visited Liberty yet, has taken visits so far this month to LSU a couple of times, including a camp where he picked up the offer from the Tigers. He’s also visited Alabama and has taken an official visit to SMU.
