According to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, the No. 1 offensive tackle in the country, Zach Rice, will visit with Liberty on Wednesday. He is expected to meet with head coach Hugh Freeze and the rest of the Liberty offensive line at Freeze’s house in Lynchburg.

“Coach Hugh Freeze contacted us with the invite,” Rice’s mother Mary told 247Sports. “We have respect for what he has done with the program. We want to make the most informed decision possible. Coach Hugh Freeze has always been very personable and encouraging to Zach in a huge way. My brother and I played sports at Liberty University and were very blessed by our experience. Liberty’s facilities are top notch and they have quite a bit to offer. They are definitely on the rise.

Rice has previously announced a top five of Alabama, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Virginia. He has taken several visits to both Charlottesville and Chapel Hill. He also has taken official visits to Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Virginia.

The 6’6″, 285 pound offensive lineman is rated as the No. 1 recruit in Virginia and No. 7 prospect nationally in the 2022 class. Rice took an unofficial visit to Liberty before the COVID pandemic, and living in Lynchburg and attending high school next door to the campus, he is very familiar with all the Flames have to offer.

Liberty and Freeze have been on fire in recent days on the recruiting trail, picking up six commitments in less than a week. The Flames are looking to build off a 2020 season where Liberty finished the season ranked No. 17 in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll following a 10-1 season.
