Liberty’s fall sports are officially underway all over campus, and we will provide weekly updates on all of the teams throughout the semester.
CROSS COUNTRY
The cross country team begins competition on Friday, August 29 in the Liberty Challenge in Lynchburg, Virginia.
FIELD HOCKEY
The Lady Flames will open the season this weekend on the road against an ACC foe. LU plays at Duke in Durham, North Carolina on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.
WOMEN’S SOCCER (2-1-1, 0-0 CUSA)
Four games already in the books for the Lady Flames. Liberty opened with a 3-1 win at East Carolina on August 14 before tying James Madison, 2-2, on August 17. The Lady Flames then got a shutout victory, 1-0, at Charlotte on August 21. This past Sunday, Liberty hosted and fell to No. 17 Virginia, 2-0.
The Lady Flames are back in action this week, hosting Virginia Tech at Osborne Stadium Thursday at 6 p.m. before traveling to take on Old Dominion in Norfolk, Virginia Sunday at 6 p.m.
MEN’S SOCCER (2-0, 0-0 OVC)
The men’s soccer team opened the season with a 9-0 shutout victory at home over Regent. This past Sunday, the Flames defeated USC Upstate, 3-1. This week, Liberty plays at Radford on Thursday at 6 p.m.
VOLLEYBALL
Under the direction of first-year head coach Jeremy White, the Liberty volleyball team gets their season underway this weekend in the Buffalo Invitational in Buffalo, New York. The Lady Flames open on Friday at 11 a.m. against Marist before playing the host Buffalo Friday night at 7. On Saturday, Liberty concludes the opening weekend playing Rutgers at 6 p.m.
