On Wednesday, Liberty defensive end TreShaun Clark and safety Tim Kidd-Glass took questions from the media. There was a wide range questions and below is ASOR’s report from the player interviews…

FAMILY MEMBERS RECONNECT AT LU

TreShaun Clark was one of Liberty’s top recruits when he signed with the Flames as part of the 2019 signing class. He originally committed to the Flames under Coach Gill but stayed true to LU after Hugh Freeze was hired. It wasn’t long after Clark was at Liberty, that he was joined by some familiar faces, his cousins, twins Carl and Carlos Poole.

“It was a surprise to me to find out they were coming here,” Clark said. “I was ecstatic.”

The Poole’s from Danville, Virginia, were able to reconnect with their cousin, and before long would be joined by another cousin, Tim Kidd-Glass. Kidd-Glass and Clark aren’t related to one another, but that hasn’t stopped them from all building a bond together at Liberty.

“I didn’t meet Tim until he came here,” said Clark. “I didn’t know they were related to him. He’s a cousin on their dad’s side. Once I met him, I was like you’re part of the family so you’re family to me too.”

“It was crazy how it worked out,” said Kidd-Glass. “I didn’t know where I was going at the time, and then it all rekindled back to Liberty. I think it was God reconnecting our family back here. That story is crazy. We didn’t plan it. It just happened.”

KIDD-GLASS FIGHTS THROUGH FOOT INJURY

After sitting out the 2019 season following his transfer from NC State (more on that later this week), Kidd-Glass was expected to battle for a starting position in the secondary. He suffered a foot injury during training camp and was unable to get back on the field for the Flames until Liberty traveled to Blacksburg a couple weeks ago.

“I was really happy for him,” Clark said about Kidd-Glass being able to get back on the field. “I was rooting for him the whole time. I could see how hard he was working the whole time.”

Kidd-Glass is happy he is now able to contribute to the team’s success this season. “It’s been real fun being back out there with the guys, my brothers, enjoying football and winning.”

HAVING FUN THIS SEASON

No one expected Liberty to reach 8-0, be ranked in the top 25, and have wins over Syracuse and Virginia Tech, but the Flames have proved us all wrong this season. It’s been a fun ride for the fans, and the team is having just as much fun riding the wave.

“It’s a surprise because we didn’t really know what to expect coming in this year with all the new players and we got people put in different positions throughout the season, moving around,” said Clark. “It was a shock, but I’m grateful and thankful that we are doing what we’re doing. I’m proud of my team. It’s fun being a part of this team.”
