Following the conclusion of the fall athletic season, Liberty is currently ranked No. 1 in the country in the Learfield College Directors’ Cup standings, a ranking of the top collegiate athletic departments in the country.
The Flames received points from women’s cross country and football. Liberty won the CUSA women’s cross country championship and placed 32nd nationally, receiving 29 points. The Flames gained 25 points from reaching the program’s sixth straight bowl game.
Being ranked at No. 112, Liberty is the highest ranked Conference team. The Flames are ahead of No. 118 Western Kentucky, No. 133 Sam Houston, and FIU, Jacksonville State, Louisiana Tech, and UTEP who are all tied for No. 154.
North Carolina is the national leader following the fall sports. They are followed in the standings by Stanford, Penn State, BYU, Virginia, Notre Dame, Oregon, Ohio State, Washington, and Texas.
Liberty Athletics continues to see its national brand lifted across all sports, as the Flames have posted three top 100 finishes in the past four years in the College Directors’ Cup standings.
