Liberty has picked up a commitment from Chris Parker, a grad transfer from Division II Henderson State, according to sources.

Parker is a 6’1″, 170 pound guard who played in 31 games this past season for Henderson State. He averaged 15.3 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.3 rebounds per game while shooting 42.7% from three. He helped lead Henderson State to a 23-8 record and was named the GAC Tournament MVP following his team’s run to the conference tournament championship. They would have advanced to the Division II NCAA Tournament had it not been canceled.

He played three seasons for the Division II squad, averaging 14.5 points as a freshman and 12.1 points as a sophomore while shooting 36.1% from three during his career. Parker is originally from Plano, Texas where he attended Plano East Senior High School, the same high school that produced Liberty great Anthony Smith.

He’s the son of Charlie Parker who spent 13 seasons in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Hornets.

Parker joins a Liberty team coming off its most successful run in school history led by four talented seniors who leave the program, and he will join with one season of eligibility remaining.

The Flames now have one scholarship remaining for the 2020-21 season after the departure of Brendan Newton.
