Liberty has picked up a commitment from Purdue transfer wide receiver Elijah Canion.

Canion is a 6’4″, 220 pound wide receiver originally from Hollywood, Florida. He has two years of eligibility remaining. Canion played the last two seasons at Purdue, being hampered by injuries while with the Boilermakers, finishing with just one catch for four yards in four games played.

He spent his first two years at Auburn where he played in 7 games, recording 7 catches for 126 yards and a touchdown. Canion caught a 57 yard touchdown catch from Bo Nix in the Citrus Bowl in 2020 as a freshman at Auburn. He finished that game with 3 catches for 80 yards and the score.

Canion was a talented big play receiver out of high school who averaged over 21 yards per catch during his career at Chaminade. He helped the Lions to win three consecutive Class 3 A State championships. Canion was ranked among the top 75 prospects in Florida and the top 80 receivers nationally by all national recruiting services.

Canion will provide the Flames with a big body receiver on the outside to help offset the losses of CJ Daniels and Noah Frith.
