Liberty is a finalist for four-star athlete Malcolm Simmons. Simmons is a 6’0″, 170 pound prospect from Alexander City, Alabama where he attends Benjamin Russell High School. He is rated a four-star prospect by On3, ESPN, and Rivals.
He would be the highest rated recruit in school history, even topping the Flames’ most recent commit in quarterback Jayden Bradford. Simmons has a .8998 on the 247Sports Composite ranking making him the 335th ranked prospect in the country, the 26th ranked athlete in the country, and the 17th best prospect in Alabama. On3 ranks him slightly higher, as Simmons currently ranks as the No. 273 prospect in the country, 10th best athlete, and 13th best in Alabama.
On3 has Auburn and Liberty as his two favorites. Simmons recently released a top seven that included Auburn, Liberty, Arkansas, West Virginia, Indiana, UCF, and Coastal Carolina. His additional offers other than his top 7 include Troy, Middle Tennessee, Georgia State, UAB. Liberty offered him in May 2022.
Simmons likely projects as a wide receiver in college. The Flames currently have one commitment at receiver for the Class of 2024, coming from three-star Eric Smith out of Varina High School in Virgina.
Liberty currently has 13 commitments in the Class of 2024 and got a big commitment from highly touted quarterback Jayden Bradford last week.
