Liberty Guard Kelly Assinesi, who left the team last month, will continue his college career at NCAA Division III Birmingham Southern in Birmingham, Alabama. Assinesi should be able to play right away.
In his time at Liberty, Assinesi played in 36 games totaling 170 minutes, 20 points, 20 assists and 5 rebounds as a reserve point guard.
Many may remember Birmingham Southern as a member of the Big South Conference. The Panthers were members of the conference from 2000-2007. In 2006, University Administration decided to move the program to Division III. BSC made it to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in school history last year in what was their first season being eligible after their transition from Division I.
